Oncologist by training. After several years spent as clinical researcher at Regina Elena National Cancer Institute in Rome, Italy, he joined the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) in 2010 as a clinical assessor for oncology products in the context of clinical trial applications, scientific advice, and marketing authorisation centralised procedures. He also supported activities related to AIFA Registers for monitoring the use of medicinal products reimbursed by the National Health System. Past member and vice Chair of EMA Oncology Working Party. Member of EMA Scientific Advice Working Party since 2011, and current Chair since March 2022
